Our Process
Introduction
The current owner will learn about us and our objectives, and we will gain an understanding of the current owner's goals and the company's fundamentals to assess a potential fit.
IOI
If there is a mutual understanding of a potential fit, we will send an indication of interest letter with a proposed price range and deal structure, based on our initial understanding of the opportunity.
Due Diligence
If the IOI is deemed acceptable, we will work with the seller to understand the industry, company, and its day-to-day operations in depth through historical financial performances and site visits.
LOI
With an in-depth understanding of the company and transaction, we will build upon the IOI letter and draft a Letter of Intent until a potential deal structure is agreed upon with the current owner.
Closing
We will conduct post-LOI due diligence until all closing requirements are met and an Asset (or Stock) Purchase Agreement is executed.
Michelle Cheng, CFA, MBA
Founder, Managing Partner
Michelle is the founder and managing partner of Aspen Ridge Trust. Before Aspen, she spent a decade in capital markets where she led and facilitated the IPOs of 20+ companies on NYSE and NASDAQ. Most recently, she was the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman at a $50B AUM alternatives manager. She was responsible for $100M+ book of client revenue and under her leadership the book grew double digit over 4.5 years in profit to the firm. She brings a mix of expertise in strategy, sales, research, and community building. In her previous roles, she was known for her ability to establish client trust, empower team members, and lead with empathy, and is known by others as compassionate with a balance of analytical and rational thinking and emotional intelligence. Through the acquisition, Michelle looks to step into the day to day management of the business and aims to develop a culture where the company continues to invest in the professional development and personal growth of the employees.
Michelle holds an MBA degree from Harvard Business School and a BA degree in Mathematics and Economics from Wellesley College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She resides in Westchester County, NY. She used to be a 400-meter track runner, who loves roller coaster rides (literally) and hiking (and pretty much everything outdoors), plays (jazz) piano, and is always down for a good cup of matcha latte.
